Jesus is divine
Part 1 -
The word "Christian" tells of our faith in Jesus Christ being God Almighty, the Messiah, and our Savior. Our Bible tells us Jesus is "God Made Flesh" and come to Earth (John 1:14) and we see evidence and proof of Jesus divine nature all throughout the Bible.
John 1:18 explains that Jesus can not be just another human prophet because;
John 4:24 tells us; God is Spirit who dwelt among us. John the Baptist explains what he saw as he watched the very moment Jesus took Gods Holy Spirit into himself and became divine in John 1:32;
Part 2 -
Jesus was not a prophet, but the prophets came to foretell of Jesus life on earth:
Isaiah - 732 BC
Ezekiel - 591 BC
Micah - 717 BC
Jeremiah - 580 BC
Proverbs - 717 BC
No man has seen God at any time. The Only Begotten God who is at the Fathers side explained HimJesus has not only seen God - He explained God to us.
John 4:24 tells us; God is Spirit who dwelt among us. John the Baptist explains what he saw as he watched the very moment Jesus took Gods Holy Spirit into himself and became divine in John 1:32;
And John bore witness saying; 'I saw the Spirit descending from the Heavens like a dove, and remained upon Him'1 Timothy 3:16 says;
God was manifest in the fleshMatthew 3:16 says;
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the waters and behold the heavens were opened to Him; and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove alighted upon HimNo man has seen God. But, Jesus has not only seen him, He knows God well, and explained God to us through His word and the example He left for us during His life.
Part 2 -
Jesus has many titles. Here are a few:
- The Savior of the World - John 3:16
- The Word Made Flesh - Revelation 19:13 / 1John4:14
- The Lamb of Light - Revelation 21:23
- The Lamb of God - John 1:29
Compare these two verses:
Revelation 21:23-24
And I saw no temple in it for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are it's temple. The city had no need for the sun or the moon the shine in it. The lamb is it's light
1 John 1:5
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness
John 8:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again saying; "I am the Light of the World"In Matthew 28:18 Jesus states;
All authority has been given to me in Heaven and on Earthand Ephesians 1:22 takes it even further;
And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in allJesus has all authority over all things. Please, scan this list of some prophets and see if any can make the claims that are made about Jesus:
- Isaiah
- Jeremiah
- Ezekiel
- Daniel
- Joel
- Josua
- Samuel
- Moses
That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of those in Heaven and those on Earth, and under the Earth and that every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lordand John 14:6-7;
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen himJesus Christ is:
- Word Made Flesh
- God Made Flesh
- Light of the World
- Savior of the World
Let's look at Jesus being referred to as "The Word Made Flesh" for a moment. ""The Word" is God. Revelation 19:13 talks about Jesus and tells us;
John 1:1-14 explains that The Word is God and that all things were made through Him (God). He was in the world and the world was made through Him. But, the world didn't recognize Him;
He was clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of GodSo, Jesus is called The Word of God. We know that Jesus is also called God Made Flesh and The Word Made Flesh. 1 John 5:7 explains;
For there are three that bear witness in Heaven: The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are oneThe Word
John 1:1-14 explains that The Word is God and that all things were made through Him (God). He was in the world and the world was made through Him. But, the world didn't recognize Him;
In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was with God, and The Word was God. All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the Light of men. And The Light shone in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it... And the word became flesh and dwelt among us1 Timothy 3:16;
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into gloryAs we continue our study of the divine nature of Jesus we read that He is "The First and the Last" and the "Almighty" in Revelation 1 :7-8;
Behold He is coming with clouds and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the Earth will morn because of Him. Even so. Amen. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. Says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, The AlmightyJesus says he is coming on clouds and Jude 14, 15 says that Jesus is coming with 10,000 saints to execute judgement on mankind. Isaiah the prophet heard a message from God in Isaiah 44:6;
Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘ I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God
God is the First and the Last, nothing existed before God and nothing will exist after Him, In Revelation 22:13 Jesus identifies himself;
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the LastThe Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, in English it would be the A and the Z and, First and Last. How is it that both God the Father and Jesus can be the first and the last? This is only possible because Jesus is God. Remember what John 1:1 said;
The Word was with God, and the Word was God
In John 18:36 Jesus tells us He has a kingdom and explains that he is the King of Kings. He is being questioned to decide if Jesus had committed any crimes;
Jesus answered; 'My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom was of this world, my servants would fight so that i should not be handed over to the Jews; but now my kingdom is not from here Pilate therefore said; Are you a king then? Jesus answered; You say rightly that I am a king
Since Jesus is a king and has His own kingdom, it makes since that He'd have a throne;
Hebrews 1:8
Hebrews 1:8
Your throne, O, God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is your scepter foreverWe read about Jesus throne again in Matthew 25:31;
When the Son of Man comes in Hims glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His gloryJesus is the Son of God, His Only Begotten, the Alpha and the Omega, Light of the World, Lamb of God, the Savior of the World, and as we've read Jesus is MUCH more than just another prophet.
