God Is Love
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is loveGod wants us with Him. So, as history and the Bible tell us; first God sent Kings to spread His message. But, many didn't listen. So, He sent prophets. But, again many people ignored the message. So, He came Himself because He loves us and doesn't want anyone lost. He forgives us over and over again; smiling down on us patiently guiding, gently teaching, and waiting for us to come to the light.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails
God's Love Is Unconditional
John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friendsOne way God defines love is in the act of giving. However, God sacrificed His only Son so that we, who put our faith in His Son, will not spend eternity separated from Him. We are the ones who choose to reject God, yet it's God who mends the separation through His personal sacrifice.
We find no conditions placed on God's love for us. God doesn't say, "as soon as you clean up your act, I'll love you; " - or - "I'll sacrifice my Son if you promise to love Me." In fact, in Romans 5:8, we find just the opposite. God wants us to know that His love is unconditional, so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us while we were still unlovable sinners.
God Is Light
John 1 :5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome itJohn 8 :12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all
God is Perfect
Mark 10:18
And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone
Deuteronomy 32:4
His works are perfect. All of his ways are right. He is faithful. He doesn’t do anything wrong. He is honest and fair
Psalm 147:5
Great is our Lord. His power is mighty. There is no limit to his understanding
God does not Change
James 1:17
Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever
God Helps Us Understand Our Spirit
2 Corinthians 3:16
But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away
Isaiah 44:18
They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand
Isaiah 35:5
Then the eyes of the blind will be opened And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped
When the Student Is Ready the Teacher Appears
Revelation 3:20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with meLuke 11:9-10
So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. "For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened"
We Are Not Perfect
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:10
As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one
"For God so loved the world" means the whole world. Everyone. Each individual person. God even loves His enemies - all of them. (See Romans 5:10; Colossians 1:21). Hes extends His love to us even if we don't return it. There is nothing we can do to make Him love us more, and nothing we ever do will cause Him to love us less. He loves us perfectly and completely regardless of how we perform. His love is unconditional.
Jeremiah 31:3
Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness
Gods everlasting love reaches into forever. He knew us and loved us before He made us; when we were just a thought in His mind. And He will love us for eternity. Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:39). The love of an eternal God must be an eternal love.
What Can We Do?
James 4:11-12
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you
Why Does It Matter?
- God is light and perfection.
- God is love; the love of God is pure and God Can not change.
But, We are not perfect. We are not love. Our love isn't always pure, and we change all the time.
We create chaos and resentments.
We envy and covet. We are greedy and often lazy.
Our empathy runs as short as our tempers.
We cheat each other, lie and our wars are never ending.
Since God is perfect and we are not; we cant be with Him. Our imperfect presence would change the perfection into imperfection. So, we are cut off from God. But, He hasn't forgotten or forsaken us. He didn't create us for hell. He left written instructions for us on how to get to Him - the Bible. He also sent teachers to instruct us and guide us to Him. Finally, He came Himself. He lived a perfect life as an example for us to follow. Then, He died for us. He told us that if we'd like to reach the Light (God, Heaven) we need to first love God. Second, have faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Third, love each other and treat each other like God treats us.
The Golden Rule
In John 14:15 Jesus says;If you love me, keep my commandsIn Matt 22:36-40 Jesus tells us Himself what He commands
Jesus was asked: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandmentsMatt 7:12 NIV
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets
God is Love and God is Light so, it's hell to be cut off from Him. If we follow Jesus as our guidepost, doing our best to live like Him and follow His commandments, our souls are washed clean - made pure. Once we are pure - we can sit in perfect Love. Until then, we've got a lot to learn.
The Goat and The Sheep
Matthew 25:31-46
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
God bless you today and everyday!
